There's a lot of critical issues affecting the Shire at the moment, it's easy to find yourself completely immersed in the issues without taking time out to smell the roses.

DEAR SAMANTHA,JUST BEEN READING YOUR BLOG, WITH GREAT INTEREST. THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME! BUT SADLY IF THE BACKPACKERS HOSTEL IS BUILT ACROSS THE ROAD FROM OURS, WE WON'T FEEL QUITE THE SAME ANYMORE. OUR PEACEFUL, QUIET WEEKENDS AT HOME WITH OUR CHILDREN WILL BE A THING OF THE PAST. ALL THAT ASIDE THOUGH, I ADMIRE YOUR DEDICATION AND PASSION TO ALL THINGS IMPORTANT TO YOU, YOUR WARD & BEYOND. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. THANKS FOR YOUR VOTE RE:HOSTEL,FROM D&T.TESSELAAR
Thanks D & T Tesselaar for your comments, I felt very strongly about the site. Given it is zoned Low Density Residential it is completely appropriate that it remains that way. I think the residents had a reasonable expectation that the area continued to be Low Density Residential. I felt that the proposal was an overdevelopment of the site. I don't have issue with backpacker accommodation, but the site needs to be right and I don't think Low Density Residential fits the bill. Now that council has made it's decision we all turn to VCAT to see how the matter progresses......
