defibrillator for belgrave south

As a result of the sudden and tragic death of 19 year old Rupertswood footballer, Stephen Buckman, who died as a result of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest, the Defib Your Club for Life! initiative was born.
Recently the South Belgrave Cricket and Football Clubs made contact with Defib Your Club for Life! to investigate the purchase of a defibrillator for the clubrooms at the Belgrave South Reserve.

Lyster Ward Councillor Samantha Dunn and Belgrave
Community Bank Manager Charmaine Jeffery hand
over the new defibrillator to the South Belgrave
Cricket and Football clubs.
The clubs along with myself, Belgrave Community Bank and Cricket Victoria provided funding contributions to ensure the public access to this important community facility.
I was very pleased to support this important community initiative and commend the South Belgrave Cricket and Football Clubs. It's terrific to know there's a defibrillator available at the Belgrave South Reserve.

It's a really important piece of equipment to have, around 30,000 Australians of all ages die from Sudden Cardiac Arrest and there is a strong link between the chances of survival and time taken to restore a regular heart rhythm. Early automatic defibrillation is recognised as a safe and effective method which can be administered by a lay person while waiting critical minutes for an ambulance.

It's great to be able to part fund this important life saving equipment. Let's hope we never have to use it, but have comfort in knowing it's there if we need it.
