A very late blog entry, but to celebrate an event well worth giving mention to, the End of the Line 2013. My congratulations go to End of the Line event key organisers, Brent, CJ, Josh and Snowy. What an amazing job you did coordinating this enormous festival for Belgrave assisted by a huge pool of volunteer help.

Brent and CJ are two of the key organisers of the
End of the Line Festival. They've dedicated countless
volunteer hours to bring this amazing festival to Belgrave.

It was terrific to see Belgrave come alive with thousands of visitors enjoying all the hills have to offer on its cultural plate. With an enormous program of events, over 70 bands performed on stages throughout the town, art exhibitions, street performances, a makers market, film festival, workshops and demonstrations - there was plenty to keep people entertained from morning till night.

I’m proud to be able to support the End of the Line with a grant from my Community Ward Fund. It was a terrific day, driven by the passion of people to showcase the creativity of the hills, you did a great job.

Another key EOTL organiser, Josh put in a mammoth effort
in order to bring this huge festival to Belgrave.

The Makers Market was a great opportunity for local
artisans to showcase their wares.

I was happy to participate in the bubble blowing launch
of 3MDR's Mountain of Sound 2013 CD release.

Local band Lily and King proved to be one
of the most popular acts of the day.

The Cameo outdoor stage was packed
with locals keen to catch Lily and King.

Street Art was a key component of
activities at End of the Line.

The tiffaney bishop Collective artists created these works
for the Blacksmiths Way wheelie bins.

 

The Cameo Outdoor Cinema was a key venue for
live music on the day, here's local favourites Lily and King.

There's been some extraordinary street art that's been
created as part of the festival, it's well worth taking a
stroll down Blacksmiths Way to have a look.

Lloyd Spiegel was another highlight of the festival.

Local galleries were packed with people, here's the scene
at the tiffaney bishop Collective.

All sorts of spaces were activated as part of End of
the Line, this youth space off Blacksmiths Way was
very popular.

Local artist, Rebellious Bird, has been a
keen supporter of the No Maccas in the Hills
campaign who had a presence at the festival.

End of the Line is coming, but they need your help to get them over the line. 

Last week saw the launch of the End of the Line Pozible
campaign at the Lyrebird Café. Traders are keen to
support the event with many signing up on the night
with sponsorship, goods, services or space to offer EOTL.

Organisers of last year's End of the Line (EOTL) festival are back and organising the most amazing festival for Belgrave, but they can't do it on love alone.

It's great to know that the enthusiam and energy levels are high and with an inaugural festival under their belt the EOTL team are as keen as ever to deliver a second End of the Line festival for 2013.

I've been pleased to support the festival with ward funding, but it doesn't go far and there's a lot of costs to cover to bring a festival of this magnitude to Belgrave.

EOTL are still keen to maintain community grassroots involvement but the reality is that money is required to pay for a range of services to bring a truly successful festival to Belgrave.

To help raise funds EOTLers have launched a Pozible campaign to help them generate the funds needed to bring us an amazing event, whilst also providing the supporters who donate with some amazing rewards.

There's an abundance of fantastic rewards to go with the level of funding you choose.

Congratulations to organisers of the End of the Line Festival. Belgrave was jam packed with artists, events and all sorts of creative happenings as part of the festival.

I was pleased to be able to provide funding from
my community ward fund to the EOTL festival.
Thousands flocked to Belgrave for a great event.

CJ Baxter and Brent Dakis of Limerence and Josh Collings, local artist, the driving force behind the End of the Line Festival, put together the most amazing program of events and the town was pumping from 10am till late into the night.

The Cameo Outdoor Cinema proved to be a very
popular live music space for the festival.

The festival featured over 40 musicians, had 18 different performance and exhibition spaces, some in places you might not ordinarily visit in Belgrave.

This mural, created by Glenn Scolyer, was painted 
whilst the festival was underway - it looks great!

The festival was a fantastic celebration of all things creative in the hills. People flocked to enjoy the everything that Belgrave and our artistic community has to offer. It was a great example of traders, community and local government working together.

Myself, Tiffaney Bishop and some of the collective
artists at Belgrave's newest public art space.

It was great to be part of it and officially launch the Belgrave Bins project. For a very long time I've been keen to see the wheelie bins that line Blacksmith's Way turned into a feature, rather than the eyesore they've been for many years. With the assistance of the Tiffaney Bishop Collective, a collective of young artists who operate out of Belgrave, the bins now feature works which will change over time so there's always some new and interesting public art to see.

It's Belgrave's newest public art space and I'm very thankful to Tiffaney Bishop, the collective of artists, the Belgrave traders and our Manager of Waste, who have all been very supportive of the project. The bins look great and are well worth a visit.

A myriad of events continued into the evening and the town was bustling with activity, it was terrific and I thank CJ, Brent and all the volunteers and businesses who supported them and the End of the Line festival. The bar's been set high for next year's festival, I can't wait!

This sand sculpture was created by Kallista local, Natasha.
The kids played in the sand whilst Natasha set about
creating this sculpture during the festival. At the same time
the Selby First Scouts did a roaring trade on the
sausage sizzle.

This space at the rear of India Gate was transformed
into street art and dance party.

Artist Glenn Scolyer donated his time to create this
fantastic mural on the Safeway wall, one of the gateways
to Belgrave.

 

Even Belgrave's Cherry Trees were
part of the festival action, this one
sporting some yarn bombing.

Me and Glenn Scolyer, Glenn's done a lot of work
with murals across the Shire, but this is his first
local piece and it looks great.



Night time saw this spoken word venue created
downstairs at Chocolate Sensation. Isha Molloy
captivating the audience with her pieces.



Belgrave's live music venues were part of EOTL too.
Local artist Ben Kelly played Oscar's Alehouse, Steve
Davies joined in with drums and digeridoo. It was a
great way to finish a big day in Belgrave.
